17 incredible years…

As you may know, over the last couple of years we have been reviewing Soul Exeter and what it offers the young people of the region. After lots of thinking, prayer and consulting with young people and youth leaders we have decided that it is time to take a break.

We had hoped to come up with a cunning new plan and have considered all manner of options, but haven’t really felt that God has opened any new doors. There are some great local and regional events that happen regularly and we’d be delighted to share them with people. But we don’t think it is right to replace Soul Exeter with something else (certainly not at the moment).

We recognise that we may look like we are just jumping on Soul Survivor’s bandwagon of stopping this summer. In many ways, we’ve always sought to emulate Soul Survivor’s vision and values, so that does seem a fitting way to go! But I think it’s been brewing for a while but until now we haven’t been ready to make the bold step of saying we’re stopping.

Thank you so much for all your support over the years. We hope that we have helped young people have the courage to be real with God and follow him with all of their lives and given youth workers a bit of encouragement and support along the way.

Soul Exeter has been a highlight of our months as a team and we’ve loved seeing young people worshipping God, encountering him and being changed by him.

Soul Exeter was never really meant for those over 17, so maybe it’s right that it stops before it makes it to 18!

We’d love to hear stories about your time with Soul Exeter, so please do drop us a line and keep in touch. We’ll keep the FB group up and running, but the website will come down when its domain is up for renewal.

lots of love and prayer,

James and the Soul Exeter team
